A springtime walk through Salem with my Peeps!
Spring in Salem brings a softer kind of magic. The busy energy of October gives way to quieter streets, budding trees, and small, unexpected bursts of creativity that feel like they’re just for those who happen to be there at the right moment. And today seemed like the perfect time to venture out with the doodles to visit one of Salem’s more whimsical springtime traditions: the Peep House.
Set against a beautiful historic home painted a warm golden yellow, the display was impossible to miss. The house itself felt like the perfect backdrop, with its black shutters, elegant trim, and symmetrical windows. But it was what filled those windows—and the yard—that transformed it into something magical.
Every window was lined with bright yellow Peeps peeking out from behind the glass. A low fence in the front yard was decorated with rows of oversized yellow bunny cutouts, creating a cheerful border along the sidewalk. Small trees on either side of the walkway were hung with colorful Peeps in pinks, blues, and purples, swaying lightly in the breeze like ornaments. Near the steps, larger Peep figures in pastel colors stood like guardians, adding even more dimension to the scene.
Even the front door joined in, adorned with matching wreaths that tied the whole display together with a soft, seasonal touch. It was one of those moments where you can’t help but stop and smile. The display wasn’t just creative—it was thoughtful, carefully arranged, and clearly made to bring a bit of joy to anyone passing by.
That’s what makes a spring walk through Salem so special. It’s not about big events or crowded attractions. It’s about these smaller discoveries—a house turned into a celebration of color and humor, a quiet street made memorable, a moment shared with good company.
We eventually moved on, but the image lingered: a golden house filled with bright yellow faces, a yard bursting with color, and a reminder that Salem’s charm doesn’t fade with the seasons—it simply changes shape.
And sometimes, it looks a lot like a house full of Peeps.
